PIAA ANNOUNCES NEW LACROSSE CHAMPIONSHIPS

LANCASTER, PA - On June 6th, 2009, the PIAA will be hosting it's first ever high school boys and girls lacrosse championships.  The event will be held at Hershey Park Stadium in Hershey, Pennsylvania.  This is an exciting step for the sports of lacrosse in PA.  The sport of lacrosse has seen rapid growth in the past few years with participation from the young athletes.  Considering the popularity of the sport, we expect the attendance at this first ever championship to rank within the top 10 events that the PIAA sponsors.  Market Street Sports Group is proud to help enhance the experience of Pennsylvania's students and student athletes, by lending support to the lacrosse championships.

LAPP ELECTRIC POWERS CONESTOGA VALLEY BUCKSKINS!

LANCASTER, PA - On Wednesday June 5th, the Lapp Electric Parking Lots at CV became a reality as the Conestoga Valley School District unveiled the new light pole signage a day before the Class of 2008 made it's commencement.  The 26 signs are part of an exclusive, three year "naming rights package."  The partnership also includes district wide mailings, program advertising, public address announcements and other elements to be carried out by Market Street Sports Group and Conestoga Valley.

LANCASTER, PA - On June 1st, Market Street Sports Group named Ms. Christina Provenzano as the Director of Corporate Sales.  She is originally from Delaware, but recently graduated from Millersville University with a degree in International Business.

HEMPFIELD SPORTS MARKETING CLASS AND PARTNERS RAISE $1,800 FOR "LIGHT THE NIGHT"

LANDISVILLE, PA - On Thursday March 15th, Market Street Sports Group in conjunction with Hempfield's Sports Marketing Class held the 1st annual Nerf Dodgeball Tournament to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Societies' "Light the Night Walk."

The tournament featured 32 teams, comprised of students and faculty competing for prizes donated by local companies.  The Lancaster Barnstormer's I.M.Fun was on hand to emcee the event as a packed Hempfield Gymnasium watched the faculty led Bushwhackers defeat all comers to take the title.  The event rose over $1,800 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

MAGGIE MOO'S ICE CREAM & TREATERY BECOMES NEWEST SPONSOR AT HEMPFIELD!

LANDISVILLE, PA - Market Street Sports Group and the Hempfield School District  are proud to announce a corporate partnership with Maggie Moo's Ice Cream & Treatery.

The five year deal includes billboard signage at Hempfield Stadium, the creation of the Maggie Moo's Sweetest Student of the Semester Award for community service minded students, and two fundraising initiatives.

Maggie Moo's will vend it's hand mixed ice cream treats at various Hempfield District sponsored events, with a portion of the sales going to the school's Varsity Club.  Maggie Moo's will also fundraise for the district throughout the year giving a portion of all in-store sales to Hempfield families and faculty showing a Hempfield ID back to the school at years end.

Maggie Moo's located at 2088 Fruitvill Pike, has been serving hand mixed ice cream treats and cakes to Lancaster residents since 2005.  "Maggie Moo's has always been a community minded company," stated owner Mike Good, "we feel this is a great way to expand on the work we currently do with local churches and youth organizations in the area."

PRESIDENT OF SCHWANGER BROTHERS OPENS BASEBALL FIELD!

LANCASTER, PA - On Monday March 24th, the Hempfield Black Knights began their 2008 varsity baseball season vs. Donegal at the newly named Schwanger Brothers Field.  On hand, to officially open the field with a ceremonial first pitch, was Schwanger Brothers President, Steve Schwanger.  Although Steve's pitch was high and outside, it was easily handled by Hempfield's catcher.  The Black Knights went on to win 5-3 over the Indians.

LAPP ELECTRIC BECOMES FIRST CORPORATE PARTNER AT CONESTOGA VALLEY SCHOOL DISTRICT

LANCASTER, PA - Lapp Electric will "power" the Conestoga Valley Buckskins over the next three years.  The CV school board voted Monday night to approve the company as the naming rights partner of the high school student and faculty parking lots located on Horseshoe Road in Lancaster.

In addition to the lots now being known as Lapp Electric Parking Lots, the deal includes other elements such as signage, print advertising, public address announcements at various CV sporting events and gameday giveaways to students, fans and families throughout the district.  

"We are excited about being the first corporate sponsor to be approved by the CV School Board.  Greg (1986 grad) and I (1988 grad) both enjoyed our school years at CV and we appreciate the social and educational lessons we learned while attending Conestoga Valley," said co-owner Tim Lapp.  "This opportunity is a progressive step to tie the business community with CV and we are honored to be a part of this.  We are grateful for living in this forward-thinking school district and we both see the value that the school continues to provide our children today and beyond."

SCHWANGER BROTHERS BRINGS FORMER PHILLIE TO SPEAK AT HEMPFIELD

LANDISVILLE, PA - On February 11th, former Philadelphia Phillies All-Star John Hayes, came to Hempfield courtesy of currect School District sponsor Schwanger Brothers Inc.  Hayes who joins the Lancaster Barnstormers this season as the new field manager enjoyed a 12 year Major League career with 3 different teams.

Von spoke to the Hempfield High School Baseball and Softball teams, their coaches and the schools athletic directors about being mentally prepared for the upcoming season, the importance of a college education, the dangers of steroids, and his high school and big league experiences.

The Barnstormers manager then took questions from the coaching staff, and student athletes who were then photographed with him.

SPRING VALLEY ATHLETIC CLUB NAMES PRESSBOXES AT JOHN GURSKI STADIUM

PIAA and Nike Agree to Sponsorship Deal

LANCASTER, PA – The Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association, Inc. (PIAA) in conjunction with the Market Street Sports Group (MSSG) are proud to announce a corporate sponsorship agreement with Nike Inc. Nike will be the “Official Athletic Footwear and Apparel Sponsor” of the PIAA Football Championships (Finals) through December of 2009.

WILCO ELECTRIC NAMES PRESSBOXES AT HEMPFIELD

 Landisville, PA -   On Tuesday November 12th, the Hempfield School Board approved the sale of the Hempfield Stadium Pressboxes Naming Rights to Wilco Electric Incorporated for the next three years.  

Hempfield graduate Roger Brubaker is currently the president of Wilco Electric. Electricity has been running through the Brubaker family for over 65 years.

Through the word-of-mouth reputation of quality service and customer satisfaction the company has grown, expanding the scope of work to include municipal water and waste water projects, churches, warehouses, office buildings, and large agricultural complex construction projects.

Presently, Wilco ELECTRIC, INC. employs over 30 team members with twenty service vehicles, two bucket trucks, a full inventory of parts, and separate Residential, Commercial, and Datacom departments to provide the same quality, customer service, and value that Elmer Brubaker started in the 1930's.

DISCOVERY FEDERAL CREDIT UNION TO SPONSOR WILSON GYMNASIUM

West Lawn, PA -  The Wilson High School Gymnasium long regarded as one of the premier venues in all of District III will now be known as the Discovery Federal Credit Union Gymnasium over the next three years.  The sponsorship will include the creation of a Discovery Federal Credit Union branch with in the high school itself  to be run by Wilson business students in 2008 and 2009.

Discovery has been serving the people of Berks County for almost half a century.   In 1995, they moved to Spring Township and converted to a multiple-sponsor credit union, which let them diversify their membership and serve current members more efficiently.

US ARMY To Sponsor Weight Room and Team Locker Rooms at Hempfield

KLINES SERVICES INC. ANNOUNCES HEMPFIELD STUDENT OF THE MONTH AWARD!

Landisville, PA -   Kline Services Inc. will recognize one male and one female Hempfield High School student each month that excels in an extracurricular activity and in the classroom.  Teachers and activity sponsors/coaches will be given the opportunity to nominate students each month.  A selection committee comprised of the athletic director, principal (or appointee) and a Kline’s Services representative will select winners.

Nominees must participate in an extracurricular activity and maintain a 3.0 GPA.   Winners will receive a framed certificate of achievement and a $100 U.S. Savings Bond.  Kline’s Services will assume the cost of certificates and savings bonds.  In addition, The Merchandiser will print photos and articles of all award winners throughout the 2007-2008 school year.

During the fall sports season, awards will be presented at halftime of home football games, winter awards will be presented at halftime of home boys’ and girls’ basketball games while spring awards will be presented in the High School lobby.

Heart of Lancaster Quad is Unveiled
 
Landisville, PA - Market Street Sports Group is proud to announce that The Heart of Lancaster Hospital has obtained the naming rights to Hempfield School District’s newly completed Quad located off Mumma Drive. The Quad consists of side by side synthetic turf fields that will be used for elementary and secondary physical education classes as well as soccer, lacrosse, field hockey and rugby games.  The fields will be used year round and will be known as the “Heart of Lancaster Quad” over the next three years. .  Between camps, clinics, games, clubs and playoffs the Quad is expected to draw over 71,000 players and fans in 2008.
