LANCASTER, Pa. (March 14, 2018) –The Hempfield Gives Back Food Drive contributed to the Hempfield Area Food Pantry this year by delivering 4,724 pounds of non-perishable items. The donations were collected at ten Hempfield School District locations, including Centerville Elementary School, Centerville Middle School, East Petersburg Elementary School, Farmdale Elementary School, Landisville Intermediate School, Landisvile Primary School, Landisville Middle School, Mountville Elementary School, Rohrerstown Elementary School, and Hempfield High School. Additionally, J.K. Mechanical employees donated over 1,000 pounds collected at their Willow Street office.

As the food drive began on February 5th, students and staff members were encouraged to help other families within the Hempfield community by restocking the shelves of the food pantry. The pantry which is solely funded by donations and contributions and is completely volunteer-staffed, created a wish list of items, such as canned fruits and vegetables, instant potatoes, peanut butter and jelly, cereal, and tuna or other canned meat.

Shannon Zimmerman, Director of Communications for Hempfield District stated, “We are so grateful for the generosity of our Hempfield community and our district partner, JK Mechanical. The more than 4,500 pounds of food donated to the Hempfield Area Food Pantry will benefit many households in our community.”

As the presenting sponsor of the Hempfield Gives Back Food Drive, J.K. Mechanical covered all costs involved in the outreach effort. The energy solutions company also provided their staff a box truck that was used to transport the food donations to the food pantry.

J.K. Mechanical Owner and President, Chris Leaman said, “We are proud to be part of the Lancaster County community. Giving back is just one of the ways we show our gratitude and commitment to the community we serve.”
